In this role as an apprentice you will learn the fundamental knowledge required to work in a protective coatings manufacturing environment and be equipped to take on a career path to become a proactive and innovative member of the operations team.

The role will cover involvement in project work, production, milling, filling, labelling, dispatch and goods in and suggesting further improvements for work. You will learn the basics of operations, how the coatings are made and developed and tested, and the process for delivery to the market place. Working amongst a team of highly skilled and knowledgeable individuals, your operational knowledge will grow exponentially over the course of the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

During the apprenticeship you will participate in a structured training programme in Manufacturing Operations with comprehensive on the job training. You will learn about all areas of operations from creating the product to delivery to market.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Train and be competent in the safe and effective operation of Plant equipment
  • Work towards and successfully complete the Level 3 apprenticeship in Process Industry Manufacturing Technician
  • Play an active role in improvement activities, seeking to constantly reduce costs wherever possible without having a detrimental effect on quality
  • To contribute to the effective running of the team by adopting a flexible attitude to working practices
  • To execute allocated work within agreed deadlines, in accordance with procedures and SOP’s
  • To assist in development of 6s standards within communal areas
  • Is proactive in the approach to process improvement, offering new ideas and encouraging others to do the same
  • Is prepared to undertake training in a positive manner both for self-development and for the provision of departmental cover
  • Encourages and develops a team culture both within own team and across the company
  • Achievement of effective communication both within own team and between teams
  • Ensures a proactive approach to implementation of all H&S and security requirements.

Qualifications

GCSE grade 4+ in Maths and English
