Due to the growth of our business, we have a new vacancy for a motivated and technically minded individual to join our high performing Research & Technical Development team.

As the Microbial Chemist (Analyst), you will report into the Assistant Manager of QC & Process. Your role will be working across the whole department applying technical expertise to meet customer & business needs, leading microbial testing across site.

Key Responsibilities Of Microbial Chemist (Analyst)

  • Ensuring products are protected from microbial spoilage whilst remaining compliant with global regulations
  • Regular testing and reporting of microbiological trends in production
  • To be the lead analyst in the measurement of biocide levels in paints
  • Taking responsibility for the safe, efficient, and accurate use of HPLC analysis, ATP analysis and dipslide microbial screening equipment
  • Providing training and support to other staff regarding use of HPLC equipment and other analytical methods
  • Working with QC and manufacturing to optimise the levels of biocides in paints
  • To liaise with wider R&TD team in the testing and evaluation of new biocides, sharing learnings with all colleagues to enhance team knowledge
  • Supporting global product benchmarking testing and data analysis to identify biocidal trends
  • Collaborating on alternative raw materials evaluation projects and ensuring supply risk is managed
  • Influencing and directing other resources to meet the project needs in timely manner, interacting effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers and manage their expectations
  • Ensuring technical works are completed following best practices and to the highest possible quality

Your Key Attributes

  • An understanding of the paint manufacturing process is desirable, however not essential
  • Previous experience in a detailed and quality focused job role
  • Analytical lab (HPLC) experience would be beneficial
  • Ability to lead projects, technically minded and confident communicator
  • Experience of working with ERP systems
  • Degree in Science (Chemistry or Physics) is highly desirable but not essential, consideration will be given to industrial experience
