About the role

Reporting to the Customer Operations Director and working with a small team of direct reports this position offers an exciting opportunity to help further enhance the global Trade Compliance Program within the organisation. This role provides commercially focused support to the business by proactively finding opportunities to reduce customs costs while ensuring the highest standards of trade compliance.

In this varied and stretching role, you will:

  • Act as subject matter expert in relation to UK, EU, and international trade controls.
  • Identify areas of risk and provide solutions through implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Support and mentor the Trade Compliance Team and wider stakeholder groups across the group.
  • Create and manage an internal Trade Compliance Audit schedule, focused on best practice, continuous improvement & external audit readiness.
  • Contribute to the management and implementation of a programme to achieve Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) accreditation and ensure that all Customs Activity performed by all departments within the company is to the defined standard.

About you

You would ideally have an international trade or supply chain degree and experience of working within complex global supply chain in an international organisation. You must be able work at a strategic level, influencing and challenging different stakeholders across all levels of the business.

Strong commercial awareness and exposure to driving programs with a heavy emphasis on change management would be an advantage. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of tariff classifications, customs valuations, and origin determination (preferential and non-preferential) as well as knowledge of applying for / maintaining AEO status, experience of International Transport and Freight and working Knowledge of Dangerous Goods transportation.
