Global manufacturers across the food and beverage, life sciences, personal care, agrochemical, and industrial sectors trust Domino to support them with innovative coding, marking, and digital printing solutions. Our products help ensure the success of manufacturers’ products by allowing them to create differentiated packaging, protect against counterfeiting, and ensure governmental and regulatory compliance

About the role

As a Product Development Engineer in our Research & Development team, you will work alongside skilled Systems, Mechanical, Electronics and Software Engineers, taking a hands-on role in the development of new industrial coding and marking products. Projects will range from incremental improvements to existing products, exploring new technology options and clean sheet development programs.

The role includes the development of test plans and strategies, hands on and automated testing of hardware and control systems, data analysis, drawing conclusions and implementing solutions into the products. Additional tasks could cover CAE analysis to optimise and inform the product design and the opportunity to code control systems using Python or test rigs using LabVIEW. Initially you will focus on learning about the existing technologies and making improvements to specific functions in the products under the guidance of the systems development engineers. As your knowledge base, skills set, and company network expand you will gain more responsibility. You will start visiting customer sites and taking ownership for sub-systems and functions in the products throughout the entire product design lifecycle.

You will be mentored by one of our experienced system development engineers to assist you in succeeding in Domino and to provide you the support you require for professional development and career progression. The work at Domino will provide you with interesting technical challenges and valuable industry experience early in your career with a multi-national, award-winning manufacturing organisation.

About you

You will have a strong academic background with a degree in Engineering (mechanical, mechatronics or equivalent), with working experience as an engineer, preferably in a product development environment or with a relevant transferable skillset.

Key to this role is a keen interest in hands-on engineering. In your application, we would love to hear where your curiosity has led you. Tell us about some of the things that you have built, researched, or developed. Examples could come from your working experience as an engineer, university courses, industrial placements, or hobbies. Anything that showcases your passion and curiosity in understanding how things work.

We will be looking for:

  • A solid grounding in engineering principles
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, structures/materials, system design or control theory
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Positive and proactive approach to work
  • A good understanding of general physics
  • Basic electronics knowledge
