About the Role:You will be at the forefront of colour innovation and development as a Laboratory Assistant at HMG Paints. Initially, you will be stationed in our Advanced Colour Design Centre (ACDC) and Colour Laboratory, with the possibility of future progression to include R&D (product development) and Quality Control. The ACDC and Colour Laboratory are the hubs of colour for the entire company, that performs tasks including formulating new colours and quality control of manufactured colours. This will include working alongside our internal production departments to maintain colour consistency and with external customers from industries ranging from decorative and architectural to industrial, commercial vehicle, and OEM.This role will provide an individual with extensive training and career development opportunities, making it an ideal position for individuals passionate about colour science, product development, paints and technology.Working Hours: 39 per week (7.15am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday & 7.15am to 1.00pm Friday)Principle Duties And ResponsibilitiesColour Matching: Precisely match colours to customer and internal specifications, ensuring accuracy and consistency across batches, using a Colour Computer and Spectrophotometer and by eye. (Full training will be provided).Colour Development and Support: Collaborate with customers to develop new formulations and colour ranges and assisting with colour queries. Assist the research and development and advanced colour design team to create new colour formulations utilising the latest in pigment and colourant technology.Quality Control: Conduct quality control tests on colour samples to maintain product excellence.Equipment Maintenance: Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and maintained for accurate colour measurement.Documentation: Maintain detailed records of colour formulations, test results, and other relevant information.Collaborate with colleagues across HMG including Sales, Marketing, R&D and Quality Control to drive innovation and product excellence.Support manufacturing departments when required by carrying out adjustments to batches in accordance with the product specification, either as a result of your own assessment (visual or otherwise), of the colour of the product or as a result of Quality Control Testing of other parameters.To undergo training if required as part of your development.Skills And Experience
