Felling, Gateshead

£36,000 To £38,000pa Plus Benefits (depending On Experience)

Having worked in the biocidal products regulation arena, or in the antifouling paint sector, you are now looking to develop your career in a successful international business. That business is AkzoNobel. Home to world class brands, we have been awarded Top Employer status and are recognised globally for being first with ideas, driving innovation and delivering innovative products all of which allow us to build successful partnerships with customers. We are now recruiting a Science professional to provide guidance on biocidal products and answer queries from customers and regulatory authorities for our coatings business.

As a Biocidal Product Registration Specialist, you will be our knowledge bank of European biocide and biocidal product regulations and provide support on compliance and raw material and product issues. This will involve analysing new products and raw materials, conducting biocide approval and use reviews, liaising with experts in other functions and contributing to risk assessments to ensure uses are safe. You will maintain your expertise of the regulatory landscape and help prepare and submit biocidal product dossiers too. You will build a good understanding of customer needs and relevant regulatory topics affecting the business as well as identify new regulatory developments and trends and market requirements. You will also translate complex regulatory requirements into practical implications for the business.

Ideally a graduate, you must have a science background and knowledge of biocidal product regulations or antifouling paint products. Good at assimilating complex information and making informed choices you will be skilled at data manipulation, analysis and reporting too. A user of MS Office, you will also be an effective communicator, with strong interpersonal skills and an eye for detail.

An understanding of product regulations, hazard communication and product stewardship gained in an industrial setting as well as experience with IUCLID and R4BP would be desirable for this role.
