Job Description

The BASF Agricultural Specialities Limited production site in Littlehampton, produces industry leading biological pest control products formulated from beneficial nematodes. These products are used by farmers and growers across the globe in agricultural, protected ornamental and home and garden markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Production Supervisor (Fermentation) your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct line leadership for Fermentation Technicians and operators including performance assessment & development.
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing operational tasks in production (fermentation area) and infrastructure (boilers, compressed air systems, generators, and chillers).
  • Responsible for ensuring ESHQ compliance in the fermentation and infrastructure areas including conducting risk assessments and preparing SOPs (standard operating procedures).
  • Prioritize and plan operational tasks, including authorising vacation time and assigning tasks to production employees to ensure efficient and stable production.
  • Leading problem-solving activities (e.g. A3) and troubleshooting activities.

 

Please note: This is a hands on role and will include operation of equipment. On call duties are also required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educated to A Level standard (including at least one science subject) or BTEC National or other equivalent qualification (Engineering/Bio Technology or similar). A good standard of math is also required (minimum GCSE Grade 5).
  • Demonstrable experience working in a manufacturing environment. This includes a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role, indicating the ability to lead and manage a team effectively. In addition to mechanical aptitude and a good understanding of machinery and equipment, such as pumps, mixers, and valves. Familiarity with Lean/modern manufacturing principles would also be advantageous.
  • Able to work without close supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and independence. In addition to excellent interpersonal relationship skills, to motivate and influence teams and individuals effectively.
  • Capable of working accurately and quickly in a time-targeted and high-pressure environment. Possessing the ability to write and follow procedures, demonstrating good attention to detail. Computer literacy is also essential for the position.
