Process Technology Engineer – Job Purpose

The Process Technology Engineer position is responsible for working with site teams providing process technology expertise to develop their Industrial Excellence projects. Working as part of the Process Technology and Engineering team in the Capex and Engineering CoE they will link to Akzo Nobels’s Technology & Engineering standards, Best Practice knowledge & other process expertise. They will contribute also to developing these standards incorporating learnings from projects.

Location in either Newcastle (Felling) or Malmo is possible.

Process Technology Engineer – The Role

  • Be Technology licensor for medium and/or complex process investment projects, (or supporting large projects working with a PTM); supporting project teams in high level design and technology selection as well as Ranger process, working with the relevant Process Technology manager in the team.
  • Provide process technology and engineering support for the Technology Performance Teams networks for data analysis, and improvement activities,
  • Develop and communicate Best Practice and “How to” guides in the relevant focus areas of their developing expertise to support TPT’s
  • Be a Ranger ambassador, supporting and guiding use of the Ranger process to improve capex project scoping and delivery
  • Work with Reference Group(s) to engage regional & site stakeholders in creation, validation and cascading of operations centric standards, which improved taking on board deployment learning.
  • Provide technology expertise to strategically important quality problems and/or new product introductions
  • Partner with procurement function and key suppliers to benefit from economies of scale, work on establishing common equipment standards/specifications

Support scoping, piloting and development of innovative technology or equipment solutions, including on-site support where appropriate

Process Technology Engineer – About You

  • Technical university degree in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing (process or filling technology, project management, maintenance/engineering & operations management), ideally with batch manufacturing and filling/packaging equipment.
  • Work experience as an engineer on site improvement activities, projects, CI and/or operations management
  • A data driven, continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical abilities
  • Thrives on applying their ability to multitask and provide targeted input onto a wide range of projects over a range of timescales
  • Drive to develop a knowledge of specialized process technology and apply this to drive manufacturing performance and productivity
  • Able to lead change in challenging times, effectively challenging the standard approaches where appropriate
  • Excellent problem solving and risk management skills
  • Coaching and influencing skills in a matrix organization
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Some experience in an international environment will be helpful
