We are currently looking for a Legal Entity Controller for our Huthwaite site. This person can be based at one of our UK facilities (Wellingborough, Darlington OR Huthwaite). Quarterly visits to the Huthwaite site are expected.

The Entity Controller is accountable for the delivery of all finance activities relative to Axalta Coatings Systems Huthwaite UK Limited and Spencer Coatings Group Limited legal entities and is accountable for the quality and accuracy of the company financial statements. The Entity Controller is the finance interface with the UK Country Controller, External Authorities (incl. External Auditors).

As integral part of this role, the Controller works directly with the local organizations on all financial and corporate related matters relative to the entity and acts as the steward of internal controls and governance in all areas. In regards to the business reporting within the legal entity financial statements, Controller is working closely with the UK Country Controller for business specific accounting/reporting guidance. The Entity Controller is also responsible for the direct supervision of the local team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the financial accounting and reporting of the legal entity is in compliance with statutory and corporate policies:
    • Compliance with Local and US Accounting Standards;
    • Timely closing and reporting for both local and group accounts;
    • Review of reconciliation process of all accounts;
    • Overall compliance of international transactions (import, export, customs & duties…).
  • Responsible for Legal Entity’s Balance Sheet, reconciliations and Statutory Accounts.
  • Be the main point of contact with external authorities and maintaining contacts with local banks, auditors and relevant state institutions.
  • Maintain and improve accounting and reporting processes and provide proactive Business support and information to the local business teams. Maintain sound understanding of local entity´s underlying business and external regulatory environment to ensure continued adequacy of accounting treatments and effectiveness of control environment.
  • Responsible for and provide functional guidance to the local team.
  • Ensure that an appropriate control environment is in place, in line with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 and Axalta Internal Controls.
  • Manage relationship with internal and external auditors, coordinate and provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Financial review of key contracts engaging the legal entity, more specifically for critical aspects relating to invoice and revenue recognition processes.
  • Provide, together with local leadership, on-going tone at the top with local organization on Core Values and Internal Controls.

Key requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Solid finance experience including relevant accounting experience.
  • Broad Knowledge of country Legal and Regulatory Compliance processes.
  • Broad Accounting knowledge (US GAAP, Local GAAP).
  • Knowledge of the specific business processes and how they feed into legal entity and business financial statements.
  • Overall understanding of transactional and reporting systems and related interdependencies.
  • Prior Assignment in at least two of the following areas: Internal or External Audit, Business Finance, Controllership.
  • Knowledge of Legal & Regulatory Compliance, including application of laws and regulations, legal aspects of contractual agreements and their relevance in financial transactions.
  • Strong advisor on Corporate Governance and Ethical behaviour matters.
  • Be able to coach and build winning teams.
  • Building sustainable customer relationships and communicate with impact at all levels.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Additional references preferred: CPA, MBA
  • Willing to travel within the UK between the main footprints of the company. Some travel will be required to both Huthwaite (UK) and Aberdeen (UK).
