Job Description

Based at one of our many customer locations, reporting to the InPlant Manager, this role involves providing technical support for INX products. It is a physical role involving mixing ink, colour matching, technical problem solving and supplying finished ink as per customer specifications. There is also work with IT systems including IMS and X-Rite. The role involves:

 

• Ensuring that the stock of inks and bases is consistent with the needs of the customer’s production.

• Manufacturing ink on site.

• Providing reports to the customer with respect to ink consumption.

• Providing 24 hour cover to the customer’s plant to address any ink related issue.

 

The Lead InPlant role is usually a supervisory role, with the requirements of assigning employees to scheduled work, establish work priorities and standards, and ensure the safe and timely completion and follow-up of required activities.

 

The role also requires colour matching, formulating, and small batch blending support on-site at the given customer location. Mix and quality control inks to ensure the product meet or exceed the customer’s expectations. Maintain detailed records for stock control, production and quality control. Support customer’s schedule through production coordination. Work safely and maintain good housekeeping. Provide on-site technical service, troubleshoot problems and provide detailed and consistent technical reporting. Maintain monthly and weekly reporting and attend customer on site meetings as required.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

• Providing on-site colour matching where appropriate.

• Monitoring ink usage and ensures that ink formulations are the best that can be achieved to give optimum mileage.

• Attending customer’s daily meetings if invited or any other as required.

• Reporting any deficiencies in the technical performance of ink to INX Management.

• Controlling all aspects of stock, and placing timely orders for replacement stock on the Mother Plant

• Checking incoming goods and for inputting all data necessary into the INX ink management software to record and adjust stock with respect to deliveries, made on site, ink issued to lines and returned, and ink ordered from the Mother Plant.

• Manufacturing ink on site from bases where the quantity required does not necessitate bulk manufacture from the Mother Plant.

• Maintaining accurate records and retained batch details and wet samples of all ink made on site (kept for 18 months).

• Transmitting End Of Day (EOD) information to the Mother Plant if using INX Manager software

• Hygiene and Health & Safety standards, ensuring all areas under in-plant control meet high standards of excellence.

• Adhering to all customer rules, especially Health and Safety and Security requirements.

• Represent INX in a professional manner, in terms of work approach, conduct and dress.

· Preparing and reviewing standard procedural documents for daily operations

· Supervising staff performance across all levels

· Reviewing and approving departmental budgets

· Overseeing staff recruitment

· Overseeing staff training and development programs

· Reviewing periodic reports and adjusting operations to better meet company goals

· Conducting periodic employee appraisals

· Compiling staff rotas, dealing with leave requests and arranging cover when necessary

· Planning workloads, allocating tasks and monitoring progress against targets

· Briefing their teams on new initiatives, changes to targets and company objectives

· Identify any unsuitable tools or equipment from a H&S point of view.

· Report all instances of unsuitable tools or equipment to maintenance / support functions.

· Ensure all required Risk Assessments are controlled, current, documented, communicated and available at point of use.

· Monitor all personnel behavior conforms to H&S requirements i.e Use of correct PPE, following SOPs, manual handling techniques.

· Proactive promotion of HSE culture and values

· Responsibility for HSE of your staff

· Actively participate and promote any HSE initiatives

· Leading HSE by example

Qualifications

 

• Previous experience of working within an inplant or the ink manufacturing industry is preferred

• Supervisory experience with at least a two man team is required

• Basic qualification in Maths and English is required

• Excellent spoken and written English

• Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

• Strong knowledge of 5S and able to work cleanly

 

 

Working conditions

 

The role involves being on call on a rota system with other colleagues on site, which could involve working outside of working hours including weekends. You will therefore need to be based within reasonable travelling distance to the customer site.

 

Physical requirements

 

Ability to identify/quantify colours. Physical job requiring manual handling, which includes lifting and working with machinery.

 

Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of themselves or others.
