About the job

HoPP

Reporting directly to the VP of Global Business Partnering and responsible for leading the Partnering organization in UK and Ireland, while working in partnership with other P&C teams, such as Talent Acquisition, and Operations in the area. The main purpose is to ensure consistency and effectiveness in HR policies, procedures, and practices across the region. They sit in the P&C Business Partner management team and ensure the collaboration with Strategic Business Partners (SBP’s) and other global P&C teams. Regionally and locally, they ensure guidance on all aspects of employee relations and general compliance with employment law(s). Essentially, they serve as an extension corporate P&C strategies and local operational needs, aspiring to align P&C initiatives with strategic objectives while addressing regional nuances. The HoPP will sit on the Crown Leadership Team and is the senior P&C representative in the UK & Ireland, ensuring coordination, alignment and decision across the P&C matrixed teams in the geography. The HoPP UK/Ireland is accountable for completing segment/function strategy and CoE initiatives while providing input to the design of solutions. Managing the local People Partner team, ensuring matrix alignment with SBPs and COEs on all responsibilities within the employee lifecycle. Leading change initiatives for continuous improvement and is deeply involved in P&C’s transformational journey. Acting as the main decision-maker on Employee Relations, including labor law, employee and industrial relations matters, and collective agreements at a local level, ensuring local adaptation to global policies.

  • Leads People Partners (4 direct reports)
  • Supports people managers at Level 4 and below on P&C activities. Where relevant and in close corporation with the SBP handles Level 3 leaders in region.
  • Drives project initiatives with CoE’s for annual processes, as well as SBP’s for strategic projects. Acts as a delivery facilitator to support SBP’s on organizational design at geographic area. Operational workforce planning in collaboration with CoEs and SBPs
  • Partners with leaders to provide clear direction on conflict grievance and dispute resolution management, working towards positive employee relations.
  • Responsible for labour union and collective bargaining negotiations locally, resolving issues in a compliant and appropriate manner. May be involved in annual employee benefit plan analysis and negotiation, if not handled globally
  • Promotes positive employee relations through local activities to support Hempel in being an attractive place to work.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

Education

  • Bachelors degree in related field. Masters and MBA preferred
  • Proficiency in English

Knowledge/Skills/Traits

  • Strong Stakeholder leadership skills, with proven experience of success in a matrixed organisation. Global mentality, working across different countries and in global positions
  • Solution oriented with a continuous improvement approach. Strategic approach: translates business needs into critical initiatives. Critical thinking and courage to challenge status quo.
  • Strong influencing & leadership skills, dealing with VP levels and management cross functionally. Strategic and analytical leader, capable of dealing with different organisational level employees, and acting as a translator between P&C Teams, and employee needs.
  • Change management experience, leading large initiatives within the P&C function
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using data to drive business results.
  • Solid ability to collaborate cross-functionally and in a global matrixed environment

Experience

  • 7+ years in the Human Resources field in an international organization
  • Proven +5 years of leadership experience with relevant span of control
  • Demonstrable experience leading global initiatives involving change
  • UK & Ireland Labor union experience preferred
