About the team

Our development projects are run as cross functional teams to deliver world class products. The products embody embedded processor based electronic control systems and software along with precision mechanisms and micro fluid handling systems in one elegant package, manufactured in low to medium volume and sold worldwide. The electronic technologies include system-on-chip devices with embedded ARM cores, memory and communication interfaces, and interfaces to motors, valves and fluid sensors.

As a Placement Student you will be working within the Electronic Engineering team in an R&D environment, assisting the hardware team with the testing of new printer designs, developing test methods and equipment, analysing results and producing technical reports.

About the role

  • You’ll be involved with a wide variety of tasks including:Supporting engineers with the optimisation of new designs
  • Following test plans, analysing results to draw conclusions and making recommendations for improvements
  • Designing or modifying electronic designs and test rigs
  • Supporting the team to deliver new products through the product lifecycle from specification to production
  • Documenting all work to a professional standard and using industry standard software and CAD tools

About you

You’ll need to be working towards achieving a Degree in Electronics or a similar subject and have a proven passionate interest in engineering. It would also be an advantage to have experience in any of the following:Schematic capture and PCB layout and circuit simulation tools – ideally Cadence

  • Broad range of analogue and digital electronic designs
  • Microprocessor and microcontroller interfacing
  • Design techniques for EMC compliance and approvals processes
  • Reliability assessment and design for manufacture
  • Interfacing to software, electro-mechanical and fluid management systems
  • Control system electronics, instrumentation, mechatronics or automotive electronics

We’ll be looking for a good team worker and friendly self-starter, who is dedicated and tenacious with the ability to quickly learn new concepts and take ownership of tasks.

Details

The start date for the position is flexible and can be discussed during the interview process, if possible we’d prefer to have an overlap with our current student in July 2022.
