Your new role

As Business Development Manager at Bartoline you will be responsible for the management and development of independent sales accounts across the UK. You will manage current and future customer accounts to assure sales volume grows year after year. Within your role you will identify, engage, plan and develop new regional accounts and provide product and technical advice to new and existing customers.

Key Accountabilities

· Responsible for developing business across the UK e.g. taking on new customer accounts, expanding business opportunities with existing customers.

· Conduct market research to identify potential new business opportunities and analyse market trends, competitor activities and customer needs to inform business development strategies.

· Achieve defined sales targets for new trade business based on agreed targets/objectives.

· Targeting new listings in multi branch outlets

· Manage, maintain, and grow business for existing merchant accounts through regular contact and relationship building.

· Promote all products to generate leads through building merchants, decorating merchants, plastering, and rendering contractors, painting, and decorating contractors.

· Proactively reach and develop sales opportunities, follow up on the sales opportunities and create your own commercial strategy to expand customer base.

· Attend trade events and exhibitions and represent and promote the Company.

· Provide training to merchants and attend training days.

· Action all leads, sales enquiries, and requests promptly.

· Obtain and maintain a high level of product and industry knowledge.

· Attend sales meetings to report on all activity and discuss business development and opportunities.

· Form part of the regional team to support, deliver and influence the wider regional commercial strategy.

· Promote and champion the features and benefits of Bartoline products.

About you

You will be a self-starter, ambitious with a hunter mentality, able to build excellent relationships and driven by successful achievement of personal targets. You will be able to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues and have an effective problem-solving mindset whilst maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

You will maintain determination and resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks, take ownership and personal responsibility for your own performance and maintain a professional self-presentation. You will have a strong work ethic, with ability to perform under pressure and have excellent time management skills with ability to work independently, organising your own workload. Ideally, you have knowledge of decorative, DIY and trade products, however this is not essential as full product training will be provided.

What you’ll need to succeed

· Successful development of key builders’ merchant and paint merchant accounts at HQ and branch level

· Excellent personal relations within the builders’ merchants’ network

· Track record of developing additional sales from existing stockists

· Ability to develop long term relationships with customers through excellent customer service.

· Sales or business development skills with ability to influence decisions and overcome objections.

· Ability to present technical and product information with clarity to a wide range of audiences.

· Attention to detail and understanding the requirements of key customer stakeholders, with the ability to communicate customer needs effectively internally
