Make a difference, learn new skills, be part of a professional network – BCF is now recruiting Coatings Ambassadors!
Within the marketing team we do a lot of advocacy work to raise the profile of the industry to up and comers but, with only three of us, we often struggle to make our mark in amongst endless University careers fairs and industry days at schools. Rather than try to go at this alone, we have teamed up with the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Surface Coatings Interest Group and the Paint Research Association with our new Coatings Ambassadors programme, that pools our resources and advances our shared industry aim – to find and train the future workforce.
Cogent Skills came to us with the concept of ‘Coatings Ambassadors’ – a network of trained professionals in the industry, who ‘divide and conquer’ to speak at schools across the country and promote our industry to young people. Coatings Ambassadors will speak to school aged children, teachers, careers advisors, and at University events – but this can require special skills. In order to engage effectively, the Coatings Ambassadors training sessions will teach you how to deliver an effective presentation within schools, and how to engage students with a practical activity, focused on the science behind coatings.
Our first training session is scheduled for 21st May, at our Coventry HQ ‘Spectra House’ and BCF members are invited to take part (at no charge) alongside RSC and PRA members.
There are a variety of benefits in becoming a Coatings Ambassador, some of which include:
The commitment we ask from our ambassadors, is to participate in at least one careers event per year at a minimum. All BCF members are invited to take part, but please note that spaces are limited. To register to become a Coatings Ambassador, or learn more, please contact us at [email protected].
