Job Description

To participate in the preparation of lab samples and testing in accordance with defined test methods

• To assist with quality control of production batches ensuring compliance with pre-defined specifications

• To support the QA manager in identifying anomaly trends with production batches and providing solutions

• To support, establish and maintain internal lab processes and adherence throughout the department

• Assist with improving lab H&S processes • To develop an understanding of legislative issues and regulatory affairs affecting the industry and ensure compliance

• To develop a working knowledge of raw materials used in formulations, their characteristics, interactions and effect on paint properties

• To assist in supporting other departments through problem solving and investigative lab work. This includes alternative raw material approval, cost engineering opportunities and resolving production problems and customer complaints

• Produce monthly reports on results of project work and progress with defined objectives

• To assist in improving the overall raw material inventory by rationalising formulations

• To identify and recommend ways to improve process control and efficiencies with multi-functional departments

• Monitor continual improvement, ensuring that optimised processes are successfully implemented and adhered to

• To identify and monitor required calibration records and liaise with third party companies to maintain conformity

• Be able to initiate and maintain processes of data collection

• Be organised to effectively plan and complete tasks/projects to set deadlines

• Be able to accurately observe, record and interpret data

• Be prepared to develop and support various reporting processes

• Work with people to adequately understand data content

• The ability to multitask with an aptitude for planning and organising

• Prepare reports for presentation

• Be able to communicate and work with all departments across the business

 

Principal Tasks and Performance Indicators

Main job tasks and responsibilities:

1 To assist in quality control of production batches

2 To collate results data and report on necessary paperwork and electronic database

3 To produce monthly reports detailing performance against defined objectives and KPI’s

4 To distribute and track action points from reports and meetings

5 To report discrepancies / highlight issues as they arise

6 To investigate potential improvements in efficiencies through process control and internal audits

7 To develop an understanding of raw materials and paint formulations

8 To prepare laboratory samples and testing in accordance with existing test methods. New test methods can be developed when required

9 Responsible for monthly H+S checks of the offices

10 To establish and maintain database of SOP’s and Risk Assessments

11 To log all reports of Incident, Accident, Near Miss and Hazard identifications for follow up

12 To provide general administration support

13 To update processes and internal documents as required.

14 To support the collating and presenting of Production KPIs

15 To update the Training Matrix and calibration records ensuring renewal dates are tracked and adhered to

16 To audit and maintain the fixed asset register for issued laboratory assets/Company property

17 To audit and maintain the fixed asset register for replacement costs and suppliers of key equipment

18 To update notice boards and distribute company memos

19 Liaise with Finance department to ensure PO’s are raised in a timely manner and in line with company processes
