DGH Manufacturing Ltd/Andura Coatings/Hanford & Green has been expanding its operations through distribution channels and e-commerce, and we are now seeking to appoint a paint technician to complement our dedicated team at our Bicester offices. Annual wage

Starting wage from £10,400-£20,319 per year

Working week

8:30am-5pm Monday to Friday.

Flexible hours possible to be worked over four days per week.

Total hours per week: 30 to 37.5 hours

What will the apprentice be doing?

Expanding Bicester based business specialising in colour matching and supply of high-end decorative paints to a growing prestigious client base.

The company has been developing its operations through distribution channels and e-commerce, and we are seeking to appoint a paint technician to complement our smart, specialist team at our Bicester offices. For the right candidate, there will be an excellent opportunity to grow a long term career in the company.

Summary of the Role:

The successful candidate will need to engage with others and work well as part of the manufacturing team. You will need to be punctual and reliable and be able to build rapport with external supply companies and your work colleagues.

As a Paint Technician, you will need to be numerically accurate, and be responsible for

  • Picking raw materials from our factory
  • Adding ingredients to 800 litre pots
  • Mixing according to detailed formulation sheets
  • Be responsible for quality control of paint
  • Be passionate about delivering high standards of service.

As a science industry maintenance technician you will contributes to the fault free and safe operation of science industry plant by the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of mechanical, electrical equipment and instrumentation. You will learn how to be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the work environment. As well as core engineering skills, maintenance technicians need to understand and follow working practices that are specific to the safety critical science industry.

You will need to have a good level of literacy and numeracy. You will also be required to have good organisational skills, have an ability to problem solve through logical thinking and a desire to learn new things.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As an apprentice you will complete a Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 qualification with a national Training Provider. Your apprenticeship Training will focus on your job, is completed at the workplace, and you will be allocated a tutor and a study session in your working week.

Components of the Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship

  • Competence/Knowledge based qualification i.e. learning all aspects of the job role
  • Functional Skills – Maths/ English (if required)
  • End Point Assessment – Final Knowledge Test, Observation and Discussion

 

This apprenticeship is run in association with The British Coatings Federation, which is the sole UK Trade Association representing the interests of the decorative, industrial and powder coatings, printing inks and wallcovering manufacturers.  http://www.coatings.org.uk/
