Job Purpose

The Treasury Operations Manager will collaborate with the head of the European shared service center to oversee the European Treasury Operations Team within that center. This position is accountable for the timely and accurate execution of the Treasury Operations scope. Additionally, the manager will engage with the broader Treasury team (responsible for Group and Corporate), as necessary, on matters such as banking, foreign exchange risk, cash flow forecasting, trade finance, and transactional cash and banking operations.

Main Accountabilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of European Treasury, which includes managing bank reconciliations (cash allocation, payments, and general ledger entries) to ensure they are completed promptly and accurately; facilitating the release of trade finance instruments such as documentary collections (CAD, CAA) and documentary letters of credit (DC LC) in collaboration with the CS&L or external teams; gathering supplier guarantees and addressing any arising issues; ensuring the timely and precise processing of payments through online banking systems, including accounts payable runs, payroll, or one-off payments, as well as coordinating daily treasury inquiries for the European service center.
  • Cash Forecasting: consolidation of group cash forecasting data; maintain collection packs; assist in intercompany reconciliations and running data checks-Foreign currency.
  • (FX): generate FX risk exposure reports in accordance with Group Treasury policy and proposed hedges to group treasury; Accounting, recording, confirmation, settlement of trades; reporting month end positions and reconciliations of derivatives with ledger; identify FX exposure on day-to-day activity and escalate to Group treasury on breaches.
  • Regular reporting: assist Group treasury in the monthly treasury reporting, production of agreed KPIs (stats) and monitoring of costs for the department.
  • Implementation of treasury linked systems: participate in Treasury related projects driving process or system improvements (simplification, automation, standardisation, and security)
  • Assist the Group treasury team in bank account management for the European business and regulatory reporting when required.
  • Management of European credit card program
  • Coordinate the efforts for the audit for treasury operations interim and year end.
  • Manage activities for the members of the operational team to ensure timetable and KPI targets are met.
  • Banking Relationships: develop strong operational banking relationships on the operational treasury.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • People management experience.
  • Previous relevant experience in working within a cross border treasury team in the core areas.
  • Fluent business English, with a second European language desirable
  • Able to take responsibility for team and own work and help the team where needed to achieve targets.
  • Experience of building relationships internally and externally.
  • Operational Import and export trade finance experience including CAD, CAA, documentary LC a plus-Experience of SAP desirable.

Education: Educated to Degree level; post graduate qualification preferred (MAAT/CIMA/ACCA or ACT equivalent)

Experience: Over 6 years’ experience within a Treasury environment, experience of working and managing a team in a large multi-national organisation.

SAP system experience would be ideal.

Location and Travel requirements:

The position is situated at the European Shared Service Centre located in Harlow, Essex (UK). Occasional travel to other Synthomer sites may be necessary as needed. Our work environment is hybrid, necessitating attendance at the Harlow office for at least three days each week.
