Global Category Manager for sustainable sourcing of resins and binders for coatings
Are you ready to take on a global challenge as our new Global Category Manager working with some of Hempel’s key Business Segments; Marine, and Energy & Infrastructure.
We invite you to become part of our Global Procurement team, focusing on suppliers of raw materials across the globe. You will drive strategy and deliver a sustainable and cost-efficient supplier base to Hempel. We recently reorganized the team and areas of responsibility, ensuring a bigger empowerment with our category managers in order to deliver more effectively on our business strategy, ambitiously aiming at doubling Hempel by 2025. This position offers significant development opportunities, global exposure and the opportunity to have a big impact on how we deliver sustainable coating solutions world-wide.

What You Can Look Forward To In This Role
As a Member of Hempel’s global category management team, you will be driving strategy and execution across regions on your specific categories. You will report to the Group Direct Spend Director and work closely together with all parts of the business. You will play an instrumental part for Hempel in ensuring strong supplier relationships and developing sustainable value adding solutions.
Some Of The Key Responsibilities
Deliver on targets including cost optimization, sustainability, supplier performance optimization.
Develop and implement customer-focused category strategies in your own categories in collaboration with rest of Group Procurement (regional Procurement teams) and other stakeholders.
Drive continuous cost optimization activities through ongoing market tracking, supplier selection and negotiations in the chemicals industry. Deliver savings in a joint effort between Hempel R&D and other parties.
Responsible for managing the raw material category Binders including acrylic and halogenated resins, isocyanates, polyols, and silicone.
Support key elements of our overall Operations strategy, e.g., the Sales & Operations Planning process.
A Skilled Negotiator With Category Management Experience
We are looking for someone with proven experience within category management with in-depth category knowledge and experience with sourcing of commodities/chemicals in an international context. Furthermore, we seek a person with a personal drive and motivation to succeed whether it comes to the ‘daily basics’ or driving complex and strategic projects across categories.
You might have a Master’s degree within Economics, Engineering or something completely different. Regardless, success in this role will be defined by your ability to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders as well as a diverse vendor landscape. You enjoy working analytically and towards long term value creation whilst constantly thinking in lines of improvements. You are comfortable with financial analysis and analysis of total cost of ownership.

You will work out of one of our European sites and some travelling is expected (30-50 days).
