Job Overview
Responsibilities:
  • Tax compliance & systems as they relate to EMEAI operations
  • Ensures that all tax filings are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensures that all tax systems are accurate and tax rates and rules are up to date
  • Provide day to day support the the EMEAI Financial Directors in executing sales contracts
  • Maintain Federal, State and Municipal licenses for each of the company's locations
  • Secure new licenses and tax identification for new store openings
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Directly responsible for the analysis and structuring of acquisitions and mergers to minimise taxes
  • Provide data necessary in analysing potential acquisitions and divestures of the company
  • Tax planning
  • Develops tax savings through ideas, procedures and new concepts and approaches in applying tax laws that will withstand audit scrutiny
  • Interacts with senior division management to identify areas with tax savings
  • Monitors the company's future direction and determines future impact
  • Works with treasure department to ensure tax efficient movement of cross border cash transactions
  • Tax audits
  • Manages the conduct of examinations of the company's EMEAI tax returns in order to obtain favorable settlements for the company
  • Limits tax liabilities with respect to corporate policies and procedures of operating units and corporate departments
  • Tax accounting
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of the company's EMEAI's effective tax rate, deferred taxes and tax payable accounts
  • Work with EMEAI statutory auditors to ensure that the company does not have any material summary of audit deficiencies (SAD)
  • Talent management
  • Coach/guide/counsel career and leadership development of direct support and other tax employees
  • Succession management
  • This position has a direct impact on the company's EMEAI tax liability for an global organisation
  • EMEAI operations file tax returns in 21 countries
  • This position is responsible for the effective rate tax for EMEAI's USD 40 million in PBT
  • Tax audits in 21 countries
  • This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining a department budget of 500,000
Requirements:
  • Accounting or finance degree, or equivalent. Has to be tax subject matter expert
  • Legal degree preferred
  • Extensive general tax experience as a subject matter expert. This is a true tax role covering multiple countries and legislations
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Extensive tax audit and litigation experience
  • Proficient in English and one European language preferred
