Job Overview
Responsibilities:
  • Implement Occupational Hygiene Programs and related medical surveillance at manufacturing, distribution, R&D, PCG, and other relevant SW sites
  • Support the Director of Occupational Health in the development and execution of the Occupational Health team's strategic plan
  • Review current practices with new technology and make recommendations for more cost efficient and effective ways to reach Company goals
  • Conduct exposure assessments and health risk analysis for assigned cohort of sites a) Ensure valid sampling and analysis b) Manage data c) Evaluate assessment results, communicate results and recommendations d) Provide guidance and insight relating to implementation of recommendations
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring and/or provide oversight to site environment, health, and safety contacts or consultants who conduct monitoring
  • Recommend corrective actions based upon observations and analytical results
  • Monitor site program implementation and regulatory compliance requirements for assigned cohort or sites
  • Interact with plant managers and site Health and Safety Managers to ensure that sites are meeting the overall Company objective of providing a healthful work environment for employees
  • Train personnel in exposure monitoring techniques and in occupational hygiene program elements
  • Participate in internal Environmental, Health and Safety Audits
  • Select, develop, and maintain training materials
  • Provide industrial hygiene subject matter expertise, including supporting in the design and assessment of industrial ventilation systems and ergonomic evaluation and controls
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies in collaboration with the Legal Department and site
  • Select, develop and maintain employee training materials
  • Supervise industrial hygiene employee(s) as assigned
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Hygiene, Industrial Engineering, or graduate degree in environment health sciences or other core science or equivalent
  • Relevant years of industrial hygiene experience (MS degree equivalent to some years of experience, PhD degree equivalent to some years of industrial hygiene experience)
  • Certification in Occupational/Industrial Hygiene (CIH, ROH, BOHS, HTC, DGAH, RAH, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of UK regulations in the area of environmental, health & safety
  • Strong knowledge of industrial/occupational hygiene and occupational safety practices, including: exposure risk assessment, exposure record databases, sampling and analysis, hearing conservation, ventilation control, personal protective equipment, statistics, laboratory safety & hygiene, respiratory protection, hazard communication, heat stress, medical surveillance programs, bloodborne pathogens, ergonomics, spill control and response, dermal exposures, substance specific standards, and job safety analysis
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical, and report writing skills
  • Works well in both a team environment and independently (with minimal supervision)
  • Be a good oral communicator and have ability to relate to customers/co-workers at any level of expertise
  • Adapt well to changing priorities and be detailed oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to timelines
  • Use of common software tools
  • Fluency in English
Preferred:
  • Graduate degree in Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Hygiene
  • Extensive years of industrial hygiene experience (may be inclusive of internships)
  • Experience in ergonomic risk assessment and control implementation; industrial ventilation evaluation and design
  • Fluency in a second EMEAI language (French, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Finnish)
