About the job

The area in which this role covers has a direct spend turnover of around £2 Million, also a strong spending, specification/non spending client portfolio with large Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Regional Housebuilders and key Regional Construction customers as well as a direct spend customer base.

The Post Code areas in which we require this vacancy to cover is DY, GL, HR, WR

You will be responsible for selling the organisation’s products and or specifying systems to B2B, Clients and or Asset Accounts across multiple or non-specified channels within the above Post Codes. Pursue sales leads; visit existing and new customers; assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services; respond to customer enquiries; negotiate prices and delivery times within limits of authority; and conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets. Identify, research, and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate future sales and repeat business within the Specification and Direct spend market.

You will also deliver sustainable profitable sales growth, in line with the overall commercial strategy, whilst developing proactive and positive relationships with customers in the Trade Contractor and Specifying market within the above Post Codes, whilst providing first class customer service with a professional commercial ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an existing portfolio of accounts with sales in excess of £1M PA
  • Sell and specify our trade products into an end-user market and specification that has strong competition.
  • Develop and grow the end-user marketplace with specific action and business plans to deliver overall territory targets.
  • Winning new construction projects and commercial projects in our identified target market

Key tasks

  • Management of nominated accounts and clients
  • Identification, development and management of new opportunities.
  • Strategic development of nominated accounts to increase sustainable profitable sales growth.
  • Negotiating trading agreements and pricing strategies.
  • Strategic development of specification clients, existing and new.
  • Management of our existing housebuilder clients, development of new target accounts in this sector.
  • Identify future construction projects and commercial projects within the territory engage with architects and main contractors to enable Crown Paints products to be specified.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • In depth product & technical knowledge
  • In depth knowledge of the building and construction industry
  • The ability to be creative and pioneer new initiatives
  • Advanced selling skills
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • To be an organised, confident, highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent relationship building and good interpersonal skills
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint & Excel
