Job Overview
  • Research, design, develop and test new products based on a sales brief for performance requirements
  • Develop or reengineer and test existing products following processing or market feedback
  • Evaluate new or equivalent raw materials for products
  • Contribute toward the debate upon new product requirements and assist with technical assessments of products prior to launch
  • To undertake design, research and development of new and existing products based on desired performance bired
  • Liaise with sales and marketing regarding customer evaluation of new developments
  • Benchmark competitor products
  • Maintain accurate records of all development and testing undertaken
  • Undertake new formula preparation and property evaluation on fillers, sealants, adhesives and other products proposed for addition to the portfolio
  • Use formula development software to create formula cards and mixing instructions for use at both lab and production scale for all products developed
  • Follow stages of Sherwin Williams FMAP process for progressing formula from Development to Production stages
  • To provide technical assistance during the production of the first batches of the production of any new formulation developed as part of R&D program
  • Develop existing products for cost and performance benefits and evaluate new raw materials in existing products
  • Ensure compounding recipes and mixing procedures are updated and maintained following successful development program
  • Determine production test specifications for new and redeveloped products
  • To flag up opportunities for new product applications and for new products
  • To make comment on product performance and to flag up if changes thought desirable
  • Carry out assessments (COSHH) of chemical and raw materials used in development and production
  • Undertake other technical tasks as required by the Technical Manager or other Senior Manager
ISO 9001 and ISO14001
  • Carry out procedures according to the requirements for ISO9001 and ISO14001
  • Keep clear and precise records of all technical work following the requirements of ISO9001 and ISO14001
