Job Overview
The Application Technologist Flavors carries out programs and projects involving flavor systems for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products, in order to build new sales and reinforce existing ones. Position requires telephonic communication with the customers in order to meet their needs. Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for flavor application activities and support Sensient technical resources to ensure project success
  • Perform spray drying, compounding, application and manufacturing support for flavors
  • Assist in flavor technical application discussions with customers and account managers using the various technical information tools available
  • Understand customer product formulations and perform development and troubleshooting strategies under the guidance of Flavorist and TSMs to ensure successful addition of flavor into coatings, sachets and chewable applications
  • Recommend optimal product selection based on customers desired target markets and associated regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with the colors/coatings technical teams, and cross-functionally with other departments, especially in Bletchley
  • Support New Product Development (NPD), Pharmaceutical flavorist and Flavor Innovation Team in Bletchley and apply new flavor systems applicable to customer's needs and business focus for new products
  • Understand the key features and benefits of Sensient's Pharmaceutical Coating Systems technologies
  • Recommend flavoured coating applications with understanding around customer's drug release, formulation, and processing requirements
  • Coordinate Sensient's product sampling to customers in a timely fashion with close cooperation with the sample lab and documentation
  • Prepare project reports, sample reports, and lab work reports, maintaining accurate accountabilities in notebooks of new product developments, and capturing notes of key customer interactions according to company format protocols
  • University degree (BS or higher) in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy or related scientific discipline
  • Experience in flavor application with an emphasis on Pharmaceutical related markets is preferred
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical development and registration process is preferred
  • Experience with or knowledge of spray drying, fluid bed equipment, perforated pan coating equipment, granulators, tablet presses, encapsulators, and tablet or capsule printers preferred
  • Knowledge of project management and analytical analysis preferred
  • Very good english language skills (fluent in spoken and written), other additional language proficiencies are an advantage
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office, experience with JD Edwards and/or other business database software tools used to request samples is preferred
