HSE Specialist

A qualified Health & Safety professional with an understanding of HSES processes in a production environment you are ready to take on a more demanding role. We have it here at AkzoNobel in Ashington. As HSE Specialist, you will help production teams understand safety processes by building their understanding of theoretical concepts, industry standards and best practices. You will guide colleagues in developing and implementing HSE&S policies, procedures, plans and practices in line with internal and regulatory requirements. You will also provide practical and valuable advice to the line organisation as well as contribute to the development and implementation of site improvement plans. You will act as a role model for compliance and our commitment to H&S too. Important will be the ability to coach colleagues to increase HSES knowledge, support continuous improvement and maintain the highest operating standards.

With a good understanding of HSES processes, you will possess strong strategic and conceptual skills gained in a manufacturing operation. Able to influence others, you will be expert at gaining agreement or acceptance of plans and moving others willingly towards a desired goal or course of action. An effective communicator, you will used to driving continuous improvement in processes, policies and standards. Results orientated, you are good at solving problems and managing projects too. You will also have a good understanding of management systems such as ISO 14001 & 45001 or their equivalent as well as possess a NEBOSH certificate and IEMA chartership (or be working towards them).
