Ideally a graduate in polymer science or organic chemistry, you are looking to develop your interest in a technical career in a business that offers roles with breadth, depth of scope and impact. That business is AkzoNobel. As a Development Chemist in our Resins team, you could be involved in developing new polymers and technologies, managing Resin Producer products and QC testing as well as testing/supporting of existing products, processes and coating systems or building a fundamental understanding of key coating attributes. Whatever project you are involved in you will need to plan your weekly work, maintain the highest safety standards in the lab and follow established procedures. You will also ensure all results are accurately recorded, carry out preliminary analysis of data, make recommendations for next steps and communicate key results to colleagues across the organisation.

To succeed, you will ideally possess a degree in chemistry or a relevant industrial background, coupled with experience of laboratory working involving designing and documenting experiments. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to prioritise and multitask. Good at building relationships and solving problems, you will also enjoy collaborative working and understand the importance of operating safely. A driving licence would be useful too.
